Transnational partnership work

Transnational activity has always been seen as a way of enriching the knowledge base of Chwarae Teg and benchmarking the progress of the organisation and of Wales against other EU Member States

The ‘Europe 2020’ strategy reinforces the need for a more inclusive economy

The knowledge and expertise gained from the Agile Nation project should be shared transnationally so that other Member States can look to adopt some of the initiatives in their own countries and are encouraged to share their expertise in areas where Wales needs to develop.

In addition to the process of reciprocal learning, the Agile Nation project will raise the profile of Wales in Europe as a progressive and innovative country in the area of work-life balance and flexible working.

The Economic Renewal Plan 2010 for Wales focuses on high quality infrastructure and being well-connected, helping our business to ‘flourish sustainably’, deepening the skills’ base and a move towards a more ‘knowledge based economy’.

Transnational activity is therefore essential to ensure Wales is a key player in Europe and progress is recognised. Chwarae Teg has extensive experience in the area of transnational work having worked in collaboration with overseas partners through a variety of European initiatives, either as a lead body, in partnership or in an advisory role.

Countries Chwarae Teg has worked with in the past include: Austria, Sweden, Finland, Lapland, Spain and Ireland. The knowledge gained from partnership work has been invaluable to our development and has helped raise the profile of Wales in Europe; something that we will build on over the coming years.

A transnational plan is currently underway to: identify target European Member States working in the field of occupational segregation and family friendly policy and to specify the type of transnational activity which would be of most benefit to the project. Further details will follow shortly.
