Adult Learners' Week 2010 - Press Release

Chwarae Teg is celebrating Learning at Work Day on Thursday 20th May by hosting an open day to help women unlock their career potential at The Pottery, Treforest Industrial Estate, as part of its Agile Nation project

Women living and working in the areas are being urged to drop in for a free breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea and have a chat with the project team to discover how they can benefit from the pioneering project

The open day will include taster sessions from the free team leading training offered by Agile Nation to give a flavour of how the project can help women learn key skills, explore their opportunities and build their confidence.

The project team will be on hand throughout the day to talk about the opportunities the project can offer to women who want to take the next step in their career and boost their skills.

Emma Richards, regional project manager for Agile Nation South East Wales:

“We know that there are a huge number of women in the workforce with untapped potential. Agile Nation has been designed to allow women to recognise their existing abilities, learn new team leading skills, adapt to the changing world of work and learn how to develop themselves and their careers.

Learning at Work Day is the ideal opportunity to take 10 minutes out of your busy day and come along for a bite to eat or a cup of tea and find out how we can help you change your working life for the better. There is plenty on offer at the event and I would also encourage local business owners and managers to drop in to find out how we can help their employees benefit from the training”.

Agile Nation is a £12.5m European Social Fund and Welsh Assembly Government-funded project. Employed women living in Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Torfaen who want to fulfil their potential and advance their careers are eligible for free accredited team leading training, personal development and confidence building sessions, along with mentoring and tailored advice and guidance to support career development.
