Success Story ~ Outlook Expeditions
As a result of Agile Nation’s involvement, four women now have access to remote working
Founded by Matt Wells and Rhys Davies in 2001and born from a simple idea; to make it possible for every young person to experience an overseas expedition, Outlook Expeditions has sent more than 7,000 young people on expeditions to locations across the globe
This forward thinking multi-award winning business prides itself in setting the standards for the expedition industry, and is committed to providing expedition experiences that offer lasting life enhancing benefits to young people.
How we helped
As part of Agile Nation’s Evolve programme, Carl Williams provided impartial advice and support to help identify the benefits remote working would have for the business and its female employees. This resulted in supplying equipment for 8 women to work remotely, 4 as part of their role, whereby we supplied the full home office setup (desk, chair, printer, laptop and VOIP phone) and 4 following their maternity leave.
The benefits to Outlook Expeditions
As a result of Agile Nation’s involvement, four women now have access to remote working. This is allowing them greater flexibility in delivering their work and also balancing their out-of-work commitments. One member of staff has been able to have a phased return to work as part of her maternity leave package, an option that was highlighted as part of the flexible working review undertaken by Agile Nation.
Outlook Expeditions HR Manager Sean Banning, explains:
We strive to attract the best candidates, often with specialist skills, to join us and experience shows us that this attracts employees from a wide geographical area.
Remote working fully supports this approach and the women who are now accessing it thanks to Agile Nation are already benefitting from improvements to their work life balance, reductions in commuting and having the ability to get more done when they are working out of the office
Further benefits
Two of Outlook Expeditions’ female staff members have gained internal promotions having taken part in Agile Nation’s Ascent training and development programme.
