The Galeri, Caernarfon

Member’s Event

We had a small but enjoyable Member’s Event and graduation ceremony at The Galeri in Caernarfon on Thursday evening 7th June with 23 participants attending and 10 participants receiving their certificates. 

Our speaker Denise Baker McClearn runs the Moelfaban Secret Supper Club and is also a freelance food writer, private caterer, producer of home- made jams and chutneys and a mentor for Dynamo Role Models.

She is a trained chef and went to the same college as Jamie Oliver and worked in Marco Pier White’s restaurant in London. She talked to us about how, after being made redundant in 2009 she read an article in Grazia magazine about supper clubs in London and decided to try it out in Wales.

It was a great success and in her words by October 2010 it was going too well not to continue. She also set up as a private caterer and provides food for weddings, festivals and business lunches.

We also had Gayle Hudson from the OU who gave an interesting and informative talk on further training opportunities with the Open University. Many of our participants showed an interest and received some advice and guidance from Gayle.
