Key Training Appointment for Chwarae Teg

Chwarae Teg, the leading professional agency for the economic development of women in Wales, has appointed an expert trainer to its Agile Nation project. Susie Ventris-Field has been appointed as a Project Training Officer in the project's Colwyn Bay office.

The £12.5 million Chwarae Teg Agile Nation project, funded by the European Social Fund and the Welsh Assembly Government is aimed at ensuring the advancement of women in the workplace in Wales by addressing gender inequality and career progression. It will also work with employers to encourage the take up of flexible working

Susie brings a wide range of training experience to the project, including two years volunteering for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Eritrea, where she trained teachers and helped to develop training programmes.

She also has a number of year’s experience of travelling and teaching as part of the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) scheme and worked in South Korea for two years teaching English and training language teachers.

Susie's new role will see her contribute to the development and delivery of the Agile Nation project training programmes as well as providing support to individual learners.

Speaking about her new role, Susie said:

"I am extremely pleased to be joining a project that addresses such important issues. Being a part of the Agile Nation project means that I am helping to fulfil some extremely important project aims, such as assisting women to progress in employment and helping employers to focus on equality and flexible working practices..."

Chief Executive of Chwarae Teg, Katy Chamberlain added:

"We are delighted to have Susie on board, as her varied experience and enthusiasm for training will help us to continue to deliver quality support to women in the Welsh workplace. Susie is an excellent, enthusiastic trainer and I'm sure her energy will prove contagious, helping women to assert their skills in the workplace."

Susie will play a key part in developing the Agile Nation Virtual Centre of Excellence, which will act as a resource containing best practice advice to policy makers, employers, educators and individuals on gender equality and flexible working. It will also have an interactive portal to help facilitate remote working for individuals and a one-stop-shop for gender, equality in employment and flexible/work life balance issues in Wales, all of which will be fed into by research programmes which will also chart the impact of the projects targeted initiatives.
