‘Comedy inspires me-it appeals to my cheeky side’
“I find comedy very inspirational. It appeals to my cheeky side and helps me look at things from a different perspective. It is important for me to always see the funny side of things and it can be humbling at the same time.
Establishing Mazuma has been a hugely inspirational journey. Starting an accountancy firm at the age of 23 certainly raised eyebrows, and not always in a good way. Being a young woman in this profession meant that I had to invest more time and effort to prove my credibility.
My work-life balance is not the best. When you own a business, you tend to be in work mode 24/7. That doesn’t bother me though, as I love to keep busy and would probably go mad if I didn’t have a project to keep me occupied. I get my best business ideas when I am relaxing in the shower. In my career I have had many proud moments but the most significant was setting up the Mazuma head office. It involved a lot of hard work but it was so satisfying to see it up and running.
In the future, I would love people to mention us when they talk about how the accountancy industry has changed for the better. That’s the ambition that really inspires me.”
