Introduction

The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007 was one of the pieces of legislation that was brought together under the Equality Act 2010, and Sexual Orientation is one of the nine protected characteristics covered by it.

This factsheet explains how the Act defines Sexual Orientation and aims to explain the significance of this protected characteristic to employers.
